Feet First Walking

 

A short Easter break in Windsor, where we thought we'd escape the hustle and bustle of London and stay in a quiet, country house hotel near to Windsor. Early warning signs were there when we turned up to check-in, and had to join a long queue for reception. Note, not to book into a hotel in close proximity to Legoland during the school holidays!

That aside, Windsor Town was in full bloom and looking very nice.

 

An added bonus to the day was the Changing of the Guard, which having waited on for a bit meant we had pole position once the guards had been changed and headed back to their barracks.

 

On paper this could be quite a dull walk, but it's majestic setting makes up for a straight there-and-back walk, along a tarmac track.

 

At this halfway point most of the crowds turn around and fewer people seem to carry on to the statue.

 

Still quite a long way to go.

Our stay coincided with Artemis II doing a lap of the moon. Therefore, I thought it only fitting to take a picture of the 'dark side of the statue'. Many have seen the front, but few have voyaged beyond and seen it's back-side...so to speak.

 

 

It depicts King George III. It was erected in 1831 to commemorate the King’s significant contribution to Windsor Great Park.

 

 

More people were heading along the walk as we got closer to the castle, so I think we planned it well.
