Feet First Walking

 

An easy riverside walk that offers a blend of urban scenery and surprisingly green, tree-covered sections, passing historic pubs and the famous Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race course.

After crossing the Hammersmith Bridge I turned left, along the south bank towards Putney. Unfortunately most of this side was in the shade.

 

Near to the Wetlands Centre, the new stand at Craven Cottage can be seen. The Riverside Stand is very impressive, and befitting to the grandiose area of Fulham! Officially opened in 2025, it blends modern luxury with stadium heritage, rooftop pools, hotel rooms, restaurants, and a public riverside walkway.

 

Low-tide in the Beverley Brook. There is a signed path that follows the river to Richmond Park and ends 7 miles later at New Malden.

Having crossed Putney Bridge, I started my walk back to Hammersmith in the sun.

 

As the winter sun started to dip in the sky, it cast an orange glow across everything.

 

My first time in the Blue Boat and I was impressed by both the beer and the ambience. It felt cosy, but not crowded and has ample space to accommodate lots of people, without feeling over-crowded.
